The Province of Cebu is, without a doubt, one of the greatest jewels of the Visayan Region, and it also welcomes millions of tourists and business travelers each year. As such, the region’s government has implemented various travel guidelines for everyone’s safety. Here's what you need to know:

Movement Guidelines

  • The Province of Cebu is under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions until September 7, 2021. However, Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City are under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) until September 7, which means non-essential travel to the said cities is not allowed.

General Cebu Province

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY - ONCE TOURISM RESUMES

  • Present a valid medical certificate which shall be the only requirement for the purchase of a ticket for travel via air, land, or sea. The medical certificate shall be issued by a reputable doctor and within seven (7) days prior to the travel date.
  • Proof of pre-booking at a resort or hotel establishment where he or she shall stay during the duration of his or her visit. The resort or hotel establishment should be located within the Province of Cebu and duly accredited by the Cebu Provincial Task Force.
  • Pass symptoms checking or screening at the point of departure and at the point of arrival.

Cebu City

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY - ONCE TOURISM RESUMES

  • A negative RT-PCR test result is required (must be taken within 72 hours); quarantine and travel authority are no longer needed.

Lapu-Lapu City

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY - ONCE TOURISM RESUMES

  • No more entry requirements for tourists traveling to Lapu-Lapu City as per Executive Order No. 2021-11 issued by Mayor Junard Chan dated 8 March 2021.

GUIDELINES WHILE TRAVELING IN LAPU-LAPU CITY

All tourists are required to wear / have:

  1. Face mask
  2. Face shield

Note: Personal air purifiers are encouraged but not mandatory

OTHER TOURISM GUIDELINES

Related to Hotels and Accommodation Establishments:

  1. All guests, including day use visitors, must have a confirmed booking prior to arrival. Walk-in guests are strongly discouraged. Pre-bookings will allow the establishment to easily monitor their compliance with the 50% operational capacity requirement.
  2. Contactless transactions (registration, submission of health declaration form, payment, etc.) are highly encouraged to reduce exposure and transmission.
  3. It shall be the policy of the city government to discourage the use of Airbnb and other similar establishments due to lack or weak monitoring mechanisms on the compliance of minimum public health safety standards.
  4. Establishments shall provide holding or isolation areas for guests with body temperatures above 37.5 degreese Celcius.

Related to Island Hopping and Diving Activities:

  1. All boat persons, who will board accredited ships / bancas and provide island hopping or diving activities, shall first undergo RT-PCR swabbing. Those with negative results shall be issued with special IDs from the city, which will serve as proof that they are COVID-19 free.
  2. Each pumpboat shall operate at 90% of its passenger capacity and shall be given an identification mark to be posted in a conspicuous place that will tell the proper authorities that the pumpboat is authorized to operate.
  3. Cooking on board the boat or buffet-type meals shall be prohibited. Guests will be served with packed meals.
  4. All pumpboats shall provide alcohol or hand sanitizers to all guests and regularly sanitize the boat after every trip.
  5. Island hopping and diving activities shall be allowed from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm daily.
  6. All boat persons and guests shall be required to wear masks whenever they are onboard the boat.
